He was the very type of opponent I should have beaten no matter what--only having survived the opening part...
Having gone through the game again, I am not very fond of the whole idea of exchanging pawns on d5 early and, of course, that 8.Bf4?? was something resembling my early days of playing in OTB tournaments, when once I got checkmated as early as in 7--as White... :)
I don't think anything like this could ever happen on occassions when I am calm and have had a good night's sleep before the game. But this time, I could have said _days_ before the game, without being sure of the identity of the oppponent, that I am only sure that I will be unable to pay attention to chess... I simply couldn't get myself at all to practice. :-(
However, at times like this, when I am not in good mood and the opponent is weaker, I should at least try using different openings, which keep the position closed until when my king has castled and moved to safety. Sadly, I had neglected to consider that.
